Project Brings Bonus of New Homes

The refurbishment of the former Woolwich Building Society head office in Bexleyheath is going with a good pace. The purpose of the building is to become the Council's new base from spring 2014.

In order to prepare the site for the construction of 126 new 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom homes, Bellway Homes have started work at the rear of the building. Of the 48 houses and 78 apartments being built on the site, 27 will be offered for shared ownership. The sales office in Erith Road will be opened for business next week from Saturday 22 June.
This is just one of the refurbishment benefits of the Council's Bexley First programme, which will see staff from four places to move into the single regenerated Woolwich building. Bexley First is also making the way for the building of a new housing in Welling and Slade Green, as well as financing improvements to local schools, the cleaners in Bexley said.
Work is about to begin to modify the front entrance of the former Woolwich Building, in order to ensure it meets modern accessibility requirements and make the building more welcoming.
